Arie de Vries

Arie defected the Dutch bulb fields shortly after the millennium to land in Glastonbury in Somerset.  This was only the start of his nomadic existence as after 21 years in the UK, he moved to Spain for 2 years to go full circle in April 2023 when he returned to the Netherlands.

In the first part of his Dutch life, he worked as a laboratory technician in the field of environmental chemistry followed by 13 years as a data analyst where he built up IT skills as a ‘power user’ of all Office applications but mainly Excel and Access.

After settling in the UK, Arie took on the profession of ICT teacher in adult education, gained the DTLLS qualification and taught IT, Business and Functional Skills in a variety of environments like secondary school, college and even the Prison Service.

Since becoming self-employed in 2015, he has been involved in delivering IT courses, workshops, training and floorwalking in organisations like Lloyds, Network Rail and Royal Mail.  Like so many of us, in the last few years, he was ‘forced’ to run training sessions online using Teams and Zoom.  This has given him a global audience, delivering a wide range of courses including standard Office applications as well as cloud-based software, including  Teams, SharePoint, Power Query and Power BI.

Apart from IT, Arie is also delivering communication related so called ‘soft skills’ courses and is working on adding business coaching to his repertoire.
